ASSOCIATE GENERAL COUNSEL - COMPLIANCE & LITIGATION

We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive lawyer to serve as Associate General Counsel (AGC) – Compliance & Litigation. Reporting to our Chief Legal Officer (CLO), the AGC will be responsible for assisting with and managing the implementation of PeopleConnect’s product and privacy compliance programs. Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

  • Provide clear legal advice and practical business-focused solutions enabling the business to achieve its objectives while preserving and protecting the Company’s integrity and reputation.
  • Participate in or lead compliance initiatives (FCRA, ROSCA, CCPA and similar privacy laws) including policy development, training and monitoring.
  • Improve, maintain and supervise appropriate metrics against which the Company can measure the efficiency and continuous improvement of its compliance programs.
  • Manage/assist in managing the offense, defense and negotiation of a wide variety of commercial related matters and disputes.
  • Manage/assist with all aspects of the litigation process, including assessing risk, developing strategy, partnering with outside counsel, reviewing pleadings, discovery, etc.
  • Mentor legal staff and may manage other lawyers.
  • Support various other corporate legal matters and projects depending on the needs of the business, which may include employment, advertising, IP/trademarks, mergers and acquisitions, and other matters.

 

Requirements:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school with a strong academic record required.
  • 12+ years’ experience as a lawyer in an in-house, law firm or government role.  Prefer at least 2-3 years in-house practice.
  • Admission to U.S. bar (California/Washington preferred). If not CA/WA admitted, ability to practice in CA/WA under an in-house qualification.
  • Excellent strategic and analytical skills, strong communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work well independently and on a team.
  • Excellent judgment, particularly in determining the significance of legal matters in tandem with business objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and flexibility, and the ability to interface effectively with personnel at all levels throughout the Company.
  • Ability to write in a universally understandable and persuasive manner.
  • Ability to explain difficult legal concepts in plain terms.
  • Ability to work efficiently, prioritize work and meet deadlines in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Possess a genuine strong desire to add value through hard work.
  • Ability to balance a long-term view of success while working with short-term urgency.
  • Highly desired to have prior in-house compliance, litigation or privacy experience.
  • Highly desired to have prior experience in a technology, internet or consumer products company.
