You are a strategic, solutions-oriented Payments Operations professional who is also detailed and hands-on. You have the technical and analytical chops to build tools/metrics/dashboards and analyze big data. You are able to identify problems/opportunities and develop/deploy effective initiatives/solutions for efficient cost-effective payment and charge back processes with minimal risk. You are a creative self-starter with excellent team collaboration and vendor relationship skills. You are a clear, concise, effective communicator and active listener with all levels.


Responsibilities Include (but not limited to:)

  • Manage the day-to-day relationships with our local payment partners and ensure ongoing compliance with their requirements and our information security standards.
  • Identify initiatives focused on reducing payment costs and redundancies.
  • Identify and fix root causes and build scalable solutions to minimize the number of payment processing issues in the short, medium, and long term.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal/Compliance, Marketing, and Business teams to ensure optimal payment acceptance practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous evolution and ensure oversight of our commercial risks, recommend mitigation strategies that complement the customer offering, and manage day-to-day risk issues as they may arise.
  • Develop and own tools/metrics and dashboards to monitor and proactively address credit risk and payment failures.
  • Research, collect data, and keep teams informed about cutting-edge payment trends including new payment options, risk mitigation strategies, and improve payment best practices.
  • Based on observations and trends, recommend changes to our payment acceptance strategies with the goal of enhancing customer value and service quality.
  • Work with broader teams at the organization to identify opportunities and priorities that help improve and evolve our payment capabilities, as well as enhance the member experience.
  • Proven success in optimizing credit card processing fees and in delivering significant cost savings.
  • Optimize the refund and chargebacks processes.
  • Build transactional risk models used to forecast and drive important business decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent.
  • 5+ years payments experience in Payments and Finance Operations.
  • Extensive experience with payment processors such as WorldPay, Braintree, Stripe, Authroize.Net etc.
  • Deep understanding of credit card scheme regulations, disputes, and chargeback processes.
  • Experience working with recurring payments and various digital payment options.
  • Deep understanding of regional (US) credit card payment rails.
  • Knowledgeable in payment operations and comfortable speaking with leadership teams on issues and challenges of payment, reconciliation, fraud, risk, timeframes, and expenditures.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge a plus.
  • Experience with dispute resolution platforms, such as Midigator, a plus.
  • Experience developing and reporting on payment solution KPIs to leadership and executive teams.
  • Articulate and poised with a clear and concise spoken and written communication style.
  • Analytical and critical thinker – you use both data and user input as the basis of your recommendations and assessments.
  • Self-starter, resilient and adaptable – you are comfortable working with ambiguity and are able to work remotely from your manager.
  • Effective and productive working from home with remote teammates.
